Super Micro Computer, a global leader in enterprise computing, storage, networking solutions and green computing technologies, today announced that it will support the latest NVIDIA BlueField-2 DPU (Data Processing Unit). Samples are now available for the NVIDIA BlueField-2 DPU, and Supermicro will conduct an aggressive certification program for the NVIDIA BlueField-2 DPU, which includes a series of market-leading systems that Supermicro expects to launch in 2021. The overall product portfolio includes 1U, 2U, 4U, 10U rack-mounted GPU systems, Ultra, BigTwin, 8U SuperBlade, and other embedded solutions. From the edge to the cloud, Supermicro's products meet its advanced data needs.
Charles Liang, CEO and President of Supermicro, said: "Supermicro and NVIDIA are close technology partners, and we are ready to start supplying end-to-end cloud solutions and edge devices with NVIDIA Dpus at any time. "With Supermicro's renowned rapid-to-market capability, we expect to introduce several systems that are the first to integrate BlueField-2 Dpus in the industry, providing customers with the enhanced performance they need to accelerate workloads in a rapidly changing market."
Several of Supermicro's products will feature NVIDIA's latest DPU acceleration technology. Supermicro's SuperBlade is a GPU blade server built with PCIe Gen4.0 built in, plus a non-blocking 200Gbps HDR InfiniBand switch that provides the infrastructure needed for DPU to remove data management tasks from the CPU.
The latest NVIDIA BlueField-2 DPU combines a programmable multi-core ARM CPU, state-of-the-art 200G/100G SmartNIC networking capabilities, a high-performance PCIe interface, and an accelerator that integrates a powerful combination of networking, storage, and security features. The NVIDIA DPU removes mission-critical tasks from the main CPU and frees up resources, allowing the CPU to focus on executing applications while enhancing security, efficiency, and management for servers running any operating system or Hypervisor.
Manuvir Das, Director of Enterprise Computing at NVIDIA, said: "The NVIDIA DPU will become the most critical element of the securely accelerated data center, becoming a modern must-have component. By integrating the BlueField-2 DPU into future product lines, Supermicro will provide customers with even more advantages as they build modern data centers."
