Swissbit introduces new 3D-NAND SATA III products, the X-86m2 and F-86

Swissbit has added two new product families with SATA III interfaces to its industrial-grade memory line. The ultra-compact M.2 2242-size X-86m2 series and CFast memory card F-86 have strong performance, are especially suitable as robust boot and application drives, and are joined with the exclusive features of Swissbit. The highlights are high-quality 3D-NAND running in pSLC mode, SATA NAND flash controllers developed specifically to meet industrial application requirements without additional DRAM, and optimized dedicated firmware. This makes both product families well suited as storage solutions for embedded systems and industrial applications, as well as networking devices, where durability, system reliability, and power outage safety are critical.

Whether it is the mature CFast specification removable memory card (F-86) or the M.2 SATA SSD module (X-86m2), both new series have lower power consumption and heat output. This ensures stability, high performance, and consistent read and write operations in critical application environments. Both series use high-quality 3D TLC NAND flash chips set to pSLC mode.

These two new product families bring advantages to users in a wide range of applications, such as embedded systems, HMI devices, PLCS for industrial automation and control technologies, POS/POI terminals, industrial PCS, medical devices, and network devices such as routers, switches, and gateways.

Powerful firmware features ensure data security and extend service life

The capacity range for the X-86m2 and F-86 is 10 GB to 160 GB (8 GB is also available upon request). Its interface is SATA III compliant, has an interface rate of 6 Gb/s, and is backward compatible with both SATA II and SATA I. It has sequential data read rates of up to 375 MB/s and write rates of up to 236 MB/s. SATA II can also achieve the above sequential data rates. Both product families support industrial use at operating temperatures from -40°C to +85°C, with subsequent versions in the 0°C to +70°C temperature range.

The optimized firmware supports active and passive data service management, ensuring data security even in the event of a sudden power outage. In addition, detailed lifetime information is available and service intervals can be determined and planned in advance - a feature that significantly reduces the total cost of ownership compared to comparable solutions due to higher write volumes. Features of the X-86m2 and F-86 also include background media refresh, end-to-end data path protection, SRAM ECC and subpage-based Flash conversion Layer (FTL), and optional security features such as AES-128/256 encryption.
