Choosing the right DIN rail power supply for a specific application is no easy task, as there are many factors to consider, from input voltage and output power to efficiency and wiring connection options. TDK-Lambda offers a range of mid-range three-phase DIN rail AC-DC power supplies that reduce operating costs and improve thermal performance in a wide range of applications.

 

Globally, the market size of DIN rail power supplies (including 1, 2, and 3 phase devices) increased from $2.10 billion in 2023 to $2.18 billion in 2024, with a projected CAGR of 4.27% by the end of the decade.

 

Mounted on industry-standard DIN rails, these devices power a variety of control panels and electrical cabinets that are critical for equipment and control systems in manufacturing, commercial construction, industrial automation, process control, transportation, and other electrical applications. They help solve the complexity of electrical control system configuration and wiring.

 

TDK-Lambda's DRB product family is available in four power levels, ranging from 120 W to 960 W, with output voltages ranging from 12 V to 72 V. While these products strike a balance between functionality and price, power supply units with the same voltage and current can be connected in parallel to provide greater power or as redundancy. And they come in a compact package, housing that saves valuable space on DIN rails.

 

These power sources generate less internal heat, so the temperature of the electrolytic capacitor is lower. According to the company, these electrolytic capacitors typically have a service life of 10 years or more. Efficiency, thermal design and redundant overvoltage protection achieve maximum system uptime. These devices have high efficiency and low standby loss, helping product designers achieve lower carbon emissions.

 

These devices are either conventional threaded terminal connections or push-in connectors that cut assembly time in half. Push-in connectors are better suited for robotic or automated assembly, and tool-free wire insertion and easy removal simplify field maintenance and upgrades. Crimp bushing is used for wire terminating, but in the United States, stranded wire can also be used to reduce contact resistance.
