TDK Lambda's DC/DC buck converter provides conduction cooling through a wide range of inputs and outputs

     TDK Lambda's RGA series of rugged, non isolated DC/DC converters can operate in the input voltage range of 9 V to 40 V or 9 V to 53 V. These step-down converters are available from 3.3 V to 15 V, 3.3 V to 24 V or 3.3 V to 40 V with an output current of up to 20 A. They are designed for harsh environmental applications including robots, AGVs (autonomous guided vehicles), communications, COTS, industrial and portable battery powered devices.

     These converters use 1/16 brick dimensions, 35.6 mm x 25.6 mm x 13 mm, and are packaged to provide higher impact and vibration resistance. The five sided aluminum enclosure reduces radiated EMI and supports conductive cooling through the cooling plate for fanless operation.

     The RGA model consists of three voltage and current combinations and supports operation on 12 V, 18 V, 24 V, 36 V and 48 V power supplies. A part number with a wide input range covers multiple nominal voltages, helping to reduce inventory. The efficiency is up to 98% and the power loss is minimized, so that the product can work in the harsh environment of - 40 ° C to+110 ° C enclosure temperature. Because the dynamic voltage response capability is optimized, the demand for external output capacitors is reduced, thereby reducing the board space occupation.

     Basic function models include output voltage regulating pin, negative logic remote switch, remote detection, input undervoltage, overcurrent and thermal protection. All functional models are equipped with good power supply signal, output voltage sequencing, and working frequency synchronization function to minimize system noise. All models bear CE and UKCA marks of low voltage and RoHS directives, and are designed to comply with IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety standards. The evaluation board can be used for quick and easy testing.
