TDK Launches MLJ1608WG Series New Build up Inductors

     TDK announced the introduction of MLJ1608WG series of new multilayer inductors. This compact element is designed to realize the power supply (PoC) of automobile coaxial cable. The maximum impedance of MLJ1608WG series inductors is 2500 Ω. In the frequency range of 300 ㎒ to 2 ㎓, this series of inductors can also maintain an impedance level of 1000 Ω. According to the applied current, the impedance characteristics of traditional multilayer inductors will change greatly and cannot guarantee sufficient impedance, while the current change of MLJ1608WG series inductors is much smaller. Although the size of this element is only 1.6 (L) x 0.8 (W) x 0.8 (H) ㎜, it can support a large rated current of 500 ㎃. This greatly reduces impedance changes in current applications. In addition, this element can guarantee performance at temperatures up to 125 ℃.

     With the wide adoption of Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS), the performance of car cameras has also been significantly improved. Therefore, the demand for higher speed and larger capacity interfaces is also growing. The car camera system using LVDS transmission is using PoC method to superimpose data and power on a coaxial cable.

     PoC not only transmits data but also provides power, reducing the number of harnesses required. This helps reduce the weight of the vehicle and saves space. In order to separate data and power in PoC circuit, effective filtering is required. This usually consists of two to four inductors. Inductors used for such filters must have high impedance to AC components from low frequency to high frequency. In order to meet such requirements, the new MLJ1608WG series is highly optimized by achieving 1000 Ω or higher impedance values in a wide range of frequencies.
