TDK expands its product range of axially mixed polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors

     TDK has expanded its product range of mixed polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors and is now available in two series of axial additions. The B40600* and B40700* series are rated at 25 V and 35 V and cover capacitance ranges from 780 μF to 2200 μF. In addition, there are B40640 and B40740 series with voltages of 63 V and capacitance values between 390 μF and 720 μF.

     These series of capacitors are available in four sizes from 14 x 25 mm to 16 x 30 mm (depth x height). They are available in an axial lead type design (B406*) or an axial welded star design (B407*) for a wide range of mounting options. The internal mechanical structure of these axial capacitors is optimized to be close to the radiator, so a long-term reliable connection with the radiator can be achieved to ensure good heat dissipation. If a heat sink is required, both series offer models without bushing; For general installation, models with PET bushing are available.

     Both series have a wide operating temperature range from -55 °C to 150 °C and a rated service life of 4000 hours at 125 °C. The biggest advantage of the hybrid polymer technology is that it can maintain extremely low ESR values over a wide temperature range. For example, a 16 x 30 mm axial capacitor has an ESR value of only 3.5 mΩ at 20 °C ambient temperatures.

     These capacitors are used in a wide range of automotive and industrial applications, such as bidirectional converters for 48-V on-board power supplies, motor inverters in hybrid drivetrains, electric power steering systems, water pumps, oil pumps, electric turbochargers and superchargers, cooling fans, transmission control, and output filtering on switching power supplies.
