TDK has developed an ultra-thin piezoelectric speaker

     TDK has developed an ultra-thin piezoelectric loudspeaker, PiezoListen, which not only produces sound over a wider frequency range than any existing piezoelectric loudspeaker, but also has a larger output in the lower frequency range, operating from 400 to 20,00Hz. High sound pressure of 80dB can be achieved even at low voltages of 24VP-P or lower; The maximum output power is 34W and the impedance is 2 to 100Ω. With a thickness of just 0.49mm, the PiezoListen is one of the thinnest piezoelectric speakers. TDK's patented lamination technology and material technology enable the development of thin, high-displacement piezoelectric components.

     Due to the PiezoListen's thin size, the designers were able to overcome the problem of limited installation space. In addition, the new speaker element is very flexible and can generate sound from different kinds of objects and materials. With this piezoelectric speaker, TDK helps customers design innovative audio applications. Not only is the standard format of video content quickly converted to 4K and 8K resolutions, but more and more video content is also starting to offer multi-channel audio.

     In addition to broadband speakers, TDK will launch a sound-positioning speaker next year to expand PiezoListen's product lineup. The speaker operates in a frequency range between 1000 and 20000Hz, allowing users to create their own 3D audio experience. PiezoListen can be used in speakers and surround sound systems for televisions, tablets, laptops and other devices.
