TDK introduces A new 2 A peak current embedded motor controller

     TDK Corporation is expanding its Micronas embedded motor controller family of HVC with the introduction of the HVC 5223C. It is A certified automotive Class 1, fully integrated motor controller that drives small brushed (BDC) or brushless (BLDC) motors with a peak phase current of 2 A. The HVC 5223C comes in A compact 5x5 sq. mm 24-pin QFN package and is functionally compatible with the HVC 5222C pin, which has 1 A peak current capability. Samples are now available for customer evaluation.

     In addition to the ability to drive 1 A or 2 A peak currents, the HVC 5222C and HVC 5223C devices will offer a number of motor-specific analog and digital features such as phase comparators, virtual star points, and current detection amplifiers to enable sensorless control for sensorless control of individual brushless DC motors. Or drive for two brushed motors and various other loads.

     The HVC family, including the HVC 4x and HVC 5x, has now expanded to seven fully integrated motor controllers with three to six motor outputs capable of supporting peak currents from 500 mA to 2 A. All devices are equipped with a 32-bit ARM® Cortex®-M3 CPU core and 32 KB or 64 KB flash memory options. In addition, all devices are equipped with 12-bit, 1-µs ADCs for a variety of measurements, providing a wealth of options in applications where precise sensing is required. The devices are also equipped with LIN transceivers and UART that use BSM methods for communication and automatic addressing, which increases their versatility in a variety of applications.

     All HVC devices meet the AEC-Q100 standard for automotive Grade 1 temperature certification and are the solution for compact automotive actuator applications primarily for HEV/EV heat exchange systems. The AEC-Q100 certification ensures that the HVC 5223C meets the highest standards of quality and reliability, making it a trusted choice for automotive and industrial applications.
