TDK introduces a rugged, ultra compact chip varistor with a diameter of 14 mm

     TDK Group introduced the new EPCOS B72314S2 * series (AdvancedD S14 Compact) lead type chip varistor. The working voltage range covered by the new series of components is 175 VRMS to 625 VRMS. The maximum impulse current capability of the single pulse current (8/20 µ s) is up to 6000 A, and it can withstand multiple impulse currents up to 3000 A under the condition of 8/20 µ s. It has obtained the UL 1449 Fourth Edition Type 5 component certification.

     One of the highlights of the new element is that it is smaller in size than the similar S14 AdvancedD element, but its performance is equivalent. The diameter of the sheet element varies from 13 to 14 mm, which is about 3 mm less than the AdvanceD D S14 series. The new element also has a synthetic resin coating with a flame retardant rating of UL 94 V-0. In addition, SIOV varistors are also UL, CSA, VDE and IEC certified.

     With its compact size and excellent electrical specifications, the AdvancedD S14 Compact varistor is widely used in home appliances, smart meters, inverters and other applications, and can help save space.
