TDK introduces an ultra-compact welded aluminum electrolytic capacitor that increases ripple current capacity by 85%

TDK Corporation has introduced the new B43652* series of welded aluminum electrolytic capacitors. The new family of components features ultra-compact size and ultra-large ripple current-carrying capacity, and is Rohs-compliant, designed for a maximum voltage rating of 450 V DC and available in seven capacity ratings ranging from 270 μF to 820 μF

TDK Corporation has introduced the new B43652 series of welded aluminum electrolytic capacitors. The new family of components features ultra-compact size and ultra-large ripple current-carrying capacity, and is Rohs-compliant, designed for a maximum voltage rating of 450 V DC and available in seven capacity ratings ranging from 270 μF to 820 μF. Capacitors ranging from 270μF to 560μF are available in different sizes, increasing the flexibility of the design. Capacitors come in ultra-compact sizes ranging from 25mm x 40mm to 35mm x 55mm (diameter x height), depending on capacitance value.

 

The new series of capacitors comply with the AEC-Q200 standard and have A special performance feature, which is the ability to have very large ripple current up to 11.28 A at 100 Hz and 85°C. This feature is derived from a new enhanced tank bottom design that improves active cooling performance. In conventional aluminum electrolytic capacitors, the safety valve is usually located at the bottom of the aluminum can, but the new design moves to the side of the can. This design improvement and active cooling option can increase the ripple current capacity of the capacitor by 85%.

 


One of the typical applications of these high CV value capacitor products is the DC support circuit of the xEV vehicle charger.
