TDK introduces compact SMT transformer with high dielectric strength for DC/DC converter

     TDK Corporation introduced EPCOS E13EMHV series compact SMT transformers, which have high dielectric strength and are suitable for various DC/DC converter topologies. The isolation distance complies with IEC 60664-1 and 61558-2-16 standards and can achieve a high working voltage of 1000 VDC. Allow transient overvoltage up to 2500 VPEAK. The high dielectric strength between primary and secondary is 3000 VAC (50 Hz, 60 seconds).

     The size of B78308A003 series transformer is only 12.9 mm x 15.8 mm x 11.4 mm, which can save space. Due to the internal structure of the transformer, this compact design meets the requirements of IEC 60664-1 standard for clearance and creepage distance (Np/Ns: minimum clearance of 8.14 mm and minimum creepage distance of 11.2 mm).

     There are two types of DC/DC converters available in flyback topology, with turn ratios of 1:0.22:0.78 and 1:0.33:0.7. Three types of push-pull and half bridge converters are available, with turn ratios of 1:1.07 and 1:1:0.57:2.14 respectively. Their transformers are designed for the frequency range of 100 kHz to 500 kHz, and the coupling capacitance is very low, only 2 pF. The permissible temperature range is between - 40 ° C and+150 ° C. The components of EPCOS transformer series comply with AEC-Q200 Rev. D.
