TDK introduces compact SMT transformer with high insulation strength for DC-DC converter

     TDK introduced a new compact EPCOS E13EMHV series SMT transformer with high dielectric strength. The new series of components are widely applicable to various DC-DC converter topologies. The electrical isolation distance complies with IEC 60664-1 and 61558-2-16 standards. The maximum working voltage is 1000 V DC. The transient overvoltage that can be tolerated is up to 2500 Vpeak. The withstand voltage between the primary side and the secondary side is up to 3000 V AC (50 Hz, 60 seconds).

     The size of B78308 * A003 transformer is only 12.9 x 15.8 x 11.4 mm, which can greatly save space, and the internal structure design is compact, meeting the requirements of IEC 60664-1 standard (Np/Ns: the minimum space distance is 8.14 mm, and the minimum creepage distance is 11.2 mm) on space distance clearance and creepage distance.

     Among the new components, two types are applicable to flyback DC-DC converters with turn ratios of 1: 0.22: 0.78 and 1: 0.33: 0.7, and three types are applicable to push-pull and half bridge converters with turn ratios of 1: 1.07 and 1: 1: 0.57: 2.14, respectively. The design frequency range of the transformer is 100 kHz to 500 kHz, the coupling capacitance is as low as 2 pF, and the allowable operating temperature range is - 40 ° C to+150 ° C. In addition, the components of the new EPCOS transformer series meet the AEC-Q200 Rev. D standard, and are widely used in various DC-DC converter topologies and grid driver circuits in electric vehicles and industrial electronic devices.
