TDK introduces piezoelectric technology for ultra-thin loudspeakers with high sound pressure

     TDK Corporation has expanded its product lineup of ultra-thin PiezoListen speakers with the introduction of a new loudspeaker that enables a wider dynamic range and higher sound pressure level (SPL) even at low voltage of 24VP-P or lower. The PiezoListen series of piezoelectric speakers now includes PHUA 6630* wide dynamic range speakers that operate in the frequency range of 400 Hz to 20 kHz.

     The package size of the new product is 66×30 mm and complements the PHUA 3030 speaker introduced in May 2019. Another new feature of this new product family is two new sound positioning speakers that operate in the frequency range of 1000 Hz to 20 kHz. The miniature PHUA 2010 features a size of only 20×10 mm, compared to the PHUA 3015* speaker's 30×15 mm. Samples of all types of products are now available.

     With a thickness as low as 0.49 mm, the PiezoListen PHUA 3030 is the thinest speaker available and can cover a wide frequency range from 400 Hz to 20 kHz. Thanks to its form factor, PiezoListen can turn any surface, such as a display screen, into a speaker. In addition, it is easy to integrate into existing applications without sound emission holes, enabling solutions that achieve flexible sound without changing the external design.

     TDK's patented lamination and material technologies enable the development of thin, high-displacement piezoelectric loudspeakers. With the rapid evolution of video content towards 4K and 8K resolutions, the demand for advanced multimedia will continue to grow. TDK will support new integrated sound solutions through PiezoListen, thereby contributing to the development of customer application design.
