TDK introduces reliable ultra compact CLT power inductor for ADAS/AD power management

     TDK introduced CLT32 series power inductors with new design. This series of components is not only extremely compact in size, but also excellent in electrical specifications. Nine models are available, covering the inductance range of 17 nH to 440 nH, the saturation current range of 13.5 A to 60 A, and the operating temperature range of - 40 ° C to 165 ° C (including the inductance temperature rise). They are extremely compact in size, with a plate area of only 3.2 x 2.5 mm and a height of 2.5 mm, making them the most compact SMT power inductors of their kind.

     The new series of components have all obtained AEC-Q200 standard certification and adopted innovative designs, such as coils coated with ferromagnetic plastic composites. The end of the coil is directly used as the inductive pad, eliminating the outdated conventional solder joint connection between the coil and the inductive pad, greatly improving the reliability of the product, which is very suitable for automotive applications. The rugged coil structure also achieves an ultra-low RDC value (when the inductance value is 17 nH, the resistance value is only 0.39 m Ω), thus minimizing the loss.

     CLT32 series inductors are compact in size and reliable in performance. They are very suitable for ADAS/AD applications, which are critical to safety in the automotive industry. In this application, high-performance processors with rated current up to two digits are usually required, and PMIC (Power Management IC) is used as the power management to provide large current, while power inductor is used as the key component to stabilize the power output. CLT32 series components are specially designed for switching frequencies up to 10 MHz, and meet the future requirements for high frequency DC/DC converters in advance.
