TDK introduces the TCE-11101 miniaturized ultra-low power MEMS platform that can directly and accurately detect CO2 concentrations in home, automotive, iot, healthcare and other applications. The TCE-11101 introduces new technologies that extend TDK's sensor leadership into new applications and solutions as part of the new SmartEnviroTM family.

TDK introduces the TCE-11101 miniaturized ultra-low power MEMS platform that can directly and accurately detect CO2 concentrations in home, automotive, iot, healthcare and other applications. The TCE-11101 introduces new technologies that extend TDK's sensor leadership into new applications and solutions as part of the new SmartEnviroTM family. The platform's small size and low power consumption eliminate the need for continuous wall power for all forms of consumer and commercial devices. The TCE-11101 is packaged in a 5 mm x 5 mm x 1 mm 28-pin LGA package and the design requires a minimum of external components to complete.

Gas sensors currently on the market either use bulky, power-hungry and expensive optical technology; Or use the inherently inaccurate "eCO2" method. The TCE-11101 is a breakthrough platform based on TDK technologies that combines TDK's unique new material development, MEMS process technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to provide a solution that is much smaller than traditional sensors, consumes less than 1 mW of power and accurately measures CO2 gas concentrations.

 

TCE-11101 greatly expands the use of CO2 detection in a variety of new and existing applications. In these applications, traditional sensors cannot be used due to size and power issues or simply because of the economics of use. The "eCO2" solution is not available due to poor performance. For example, the TCE-11101 is ideal for applications such as fixed-position or robotic indoor air quality monitoring, as the TCE-11101 is able to provide accurate CO2 readings with extremely low power consumption, small package size, and at the same time low cost and easy integration. Additionally, in applications where controlled ventilation (DCV) is required, the TCE-11101 can perform particle control of HVAC systems by accurately measuring CO2 levels to precisely indicate the occupancy of CO2 in a room or given space - information that can be used to optimize HVAC energy consumption in smart buildings or smart homes.
