TDK introduces the S14 AdvanceD-MP series of compact metal oxide wafer varistors

     TDK Corporation introduces the compact S14 AdvanceD-MP series of compact metal oxide wafer varistors from EPCOS. The product is small in size and has the same excellent performance as the comparable S14 AdvanceD-MP varistors. Among them, the new B72214P2 * varistor has a disk size range of 13 mm to 14 mm, which is about 3 mm less than the previous model.

     Like similar S14 AdvanceD-MP series products, these components can deliver a maximum inrush current of 6 kA in 8/20 μs, in accordance with the standard IEC 62368-1. The compact S14 series multi-pulse varistor design, with a wide operating voltage range of 130 to 460 VRMS, can be used in power supplies as a primary measure against small repetitive inrush currents. The new product is optimised to prevent derating over time. All models are UL, CSA, VDE and IEC certified.

     With its compact size and superior electrical characteristics, the compact S14 series varistors help design engineers reduce product size and are suitable for a wide range of applications, including devices such as LED lighting drivers, home appliances, smart meters and switching mode power supplies.
