TDK Corporation introduces the latest inductor series KLZ2012-A with dimensions of 2.0mm (L)x 1.25mm (W)x 1.25mm (H). Designed to meet the needs of automotive audio bus (A2B) applications, this series of stacked inductors offers a wide operating range, high durability and excellent inductance tolerances. The series will begin mass production this month, in January 2024.
The new low-resistance soft terminal MLCC is available in 3216(3.2 x 1.6 x 1.6 mm - L x W x D) and 3225(3.2 x 2.5 x 2.5 mm - L x W x D) sizes, with capacitors of 22 μF and 47 μF, respectively. Higher capacitance compared to conventional products, thus helping to reduce the number of components and reduce the size.
With the rapid development of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving technology in recent years, the variety of on-board sensors, such as cameras, radar and lidar, has increased dramatically, and the number of electronic devices has also increased dramatically. In addition, automotive infotainment systems not only provide in-car music, video and other multimedia content streaming services, navigation and Internet connectivity, but also communicate with external systems. Automotive Audio Bus (A2B) is a technology designed to reduce the weight of cable bundles composed of various communication buses, with the ultimate goal of improving vehicle fuel efficiency.
The new KLZ2012-A series inductors operate at temperatures up to 150 °C, which is essential to meet the requirements of their applications in high-temperature automotive environments. Moreover, thanks to the conductive resin used in the external electrode, the product is well resistant to mechanical stress and thermal shock. Since the automotive audio bus is a differential signal interface, it is necessary to reduce the variability of the nodes. The same batch of KLZ2012-A series inductors achieves an inductance tolerance of ±8% or less, which effectively reduces stray harmonics due to inductance changes.
