TDK provides compact inductors with enhanced performance to meet the requirements of smart phone power circuits

     TDK has developed a new TFM201208BLE series inductor to optimize the power circuit of smart phones with limited space. These inductors are available in 0.24, 0.33 and 0.47 µ H. The overall dimensions of the latest series of TDK inductors are 2.0 (length) x 1.2 (width) x 0.8 (height), which has better electrical performance than previous TFM201208BLD products in terms of current and resistance levels.

     Compared with traditional products, the rated current of this series of products is 5.5 A (Isat), an increase of 10%, and the DC resistance is 25 m Ω, a decrease of 22%* These parameters are the best for inductors of this size in the industry. Through TDK's innovative metal magnetic material technology and structural design, the performance has been greatly improved.

 
     With the further improvement of smart phone performance, system on chip (SoC) with improved arithmetic throughput will be required, and the attached passive components must show higher current characteristics. In addition, more and more functions are integrated in the design of smart phones, resulting in an increasing number of power circuits involved. Therefore, the inductor used must have low resistance and minimum loss in order to extend the battery life. TFM201208BLE series provides urgently needed value for smart phone original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), as well as necessary high current and low resistance.

     TDK's entire TFM series also features inductors for various automotive applications, including products with a rated voltage of 40 V for electric vehicle powertrain. In the future, TDK will continue to expand its product line to meet a wider range of power circuit requirements.
