
TE Connectivity, a global technology leader in connectivity and sensing, has introduced its Raychem Class 5 cable, which delivers efficient Ethernet connectivity up to 1Gb/s in harsh Marine and aviation environments. This Super Category 5 cable is used with TE's wide range of connectivity products to enable customized end-to-end solutions. Raychem Class 5 cables are suitable for a variety of applications, including ships, satellites, avionics and IFE (in-flight entertainment) systems.
Raychem Super 5 cables are made of high temperature fluoropolymer materials and are capable of operating in extreme temperature ranges from -65°C to +200°C. Designed according to ANSI/TIA-568-C.2, the cable is lightweight and easy to end. TE's water-blocking models use super waterproof tape and yarn to reduce weight, increase toughness and lower installation costs compared to silicon-filled water-blocking products. TE uses high performance engineered materials common in the aerospace, defense and Marine markets and is fully compliant with MIL-DTL-24643/59 and MIL-DTL-24643/61 standards.
In addition, TE's wide range of interior sheathing materials help customers flexibly design solutions for their applications. Whether it's a Marine environment requiring halogen-free materials or a tight space requiring ductile materials, TE's diverse portfolio of materials meets customers' needs to design Category 5 cables.
