TE introduces a new highly conductive VAL-U-LOK connector

     TE introduces new connectors in the VAL-U-LOK series, increasing the maximum current rating for the widely used 4.2mm centerline pitch connector system from 9A to 13A. In many applications, the power supply must be connected to a printed circuit board or various subsystems. TE's new 13A VAL-U-LOK connector supports the high current requirements required for off-line and wire-to-wire connections in a variety of application scenarios and offers a variety of options for customers to choose from, prevents plug misorientation on PCB boards, and offers a variety of material options that meet flame retardant standards in different regions of the world.

     The terminal plugs in TE's new VAL-U-LOK connectors are rated up to 13A per line, and positioning posts are available to help determine the correct insertion orientation. VAL-U-LOK connectors have been carefully designed to comply with UL94-V-0 flame retardant standards and have passed the 750˚C glow wire test (no flame) to meet the needs of customers with glow wire testing requirements in their markets.

     The new terminals of the VAL-U-LOK connector are also rated at 13A and are compatible with existing moulds to support wire-to-wire and wire-to-board applications and panel mounting. TE is available in a variety of configurations, including 16 AWG and 22-18 AWG wires, with an optional terminal position latch (TPA) device in the housing and backward compatible terminals, using the same crimping tools as version 9A terminals. The connector is designed for wire-to-wire and wire-to-board connections in various industries such as home appliances, industrial machinery, automotive and commercial vehicles, medical equipment, vending machines and game consoles, and HVAC equipment.
