TRINAMIC introduces an ultra-silent stepper driver IC

     TRINAMIC Motion Control GmbH & Co. Announced the ultra-silent TMC2209 stepper driver IC, also available as the SilentStepStick. Motor drivers for two-phase stepper motors up to 2A RMS and 29V can use StallGuard4 and StealthChop2 in parallel, ensuring noise-free operation and no limit switch required.

     When implemented in an application, these features allow physical and software components to interweave with each other. In addition to providing a solid hardware foundation for software-defined machines, it allows for a new generation of integration for users and devices by automatically identifying hard stops and keeping them as quiet as possible, while optimizing motor performance.

When activated, StallGuard adds sensorless homing and additional security to applications, enabling them to recognize hard stops without the need for a terminal switch. Combined with protection and diagnostics, this enables robust and reliable operation of the driver IC.
