Using TMCM-0013-xA to test the phase current of a motor coil, TRINAMIC offers a cost-effective alternative to test and debug setup. Using standard probe clips or SMA-2-BNC connectors, engineers can now find the best current for their motors and applications without the need for expensive current clips.
On October 7, TRINAMIC Motion Control Inc. announced the launch of its latest laboratory tool, TMCM-0013-xA, which simplifies the measurement and visualization of two motor phase currents. The easy-to-use circuit board is suitable for small motors such as stepper motors, BLDC motors or DC motors and can be simply connected to a typical laboratory oscilloscope.
Michael Randt, CEO of Trinamic, explains, "Over the past few decades, the price of many electronic components has dropped due to the proliferation of technology. This has not only introduced more and more applications for mass production, but also stimulated the development of start-ups and manufacturers around the world. With the current detection board TMCM-0013, we want to empower these engineers, both professionals and hobbyists, to use not only plug-and-play components, but also the tools needed to test and adjust their Settings."
The current detector board is available in 2A, 3A, and 6A versions to replace expensive current probes. It can be connected to the oscilloscope via a SMA-2-BNC cable or a standard probe clip and placed between the motor driver and the motor. Two phases are measured using current isolated current sensors, which have a high linear range and bandwidth, and can be used via USB-C or 7V. The 35V power supply supplies the circuit board.
Although each version of the TMCM-0013-xA has A maximum measurement range of 19.2A, the difference is in a linear range. Motor phase Current Measuring Board TMCM-0013-2A? 6? 7? 6? 7 has a linear range of 2A, TMCM-0013-3A has a linear range of 3 amps, and TMCM-0013-6A has a linear range of 6A.
All boards are suitable for stepper motors, BLDC motors and DC motors. When measuring the current of a BLDC motor, the third phase current can be defined mathematically with an oscilloscope. In addition to motor current, the TMCM-0013-xA is also suitable for other current measurements, such as power supply current.
