TT Electronics introduces Photologic V OPB9000 reflective optical sensor

     TT Electronics announced the launch of the Photologic V OPB9000 reflective optical sensor for industrial and medical applications, which provides reliable edge and presence detection of reflective media under a wide range of ambient light conditions. OPB9000 devices, under the OPTEK brand, are suitable for a wide range of applications, including industrial printing, dispensing, manufacturing automation, safety and security equipment, and portable laboratory/medical equipment.

     The OPB9000 is a reflective optical CMOS logic output sensor with programmable sensitivity, output polarity and drain selection, which combines unmatched ambient light immunity of 25+ kilolux with a wide operating temperature range to differentiate itself from the competition. The self-calibration feature eliminates the need for constant recalibration as leds age, saving valuable time and effort, while temperature compensation and automatic gain control enable the OPB9000 to operate reliably in the most demanding dynamic environmental conditions, where consistent sensor performance is critical. The device has an industry-leading response time of 6μs, ensuring high-speed inspection for time-critical applications.

     Designs using standard analog circuits can be very complex, with additional external components that add space and cost; However, with a fully integrated module front end and digital interface, the OPB9000 device has been designed to eliminate circuit complexity and reduce board requirements by up to 80%, combining an infrared emitter and an integrated logic sensor in a miniature surface mount package of 4.0mm x 2.2mm x 1.5mm.
