TT Electronics introduces its metal foil patch resistor

TT Electronics, a global supplier of engineered electronics for performance-critical applications, announced the launch of its metal foil Patch (MFC) resistors. The MFC series uses ceramic pasted metal foil technology, which combines the heat dissipation characteristics of a ceramic substrate with the surge resistance characteristics of a metal alloy resistance element.

     TT Electronics, a global supplier of engineered electronics for performance-critical applications, announced the launch of its metal foil Patch (MFC) resistors. The MFC series uses ceramic pasted metal foil technology, which combines the heat dissipation characteristics of a ceramic substrate with the surge resistance characteristics of a metal alloy resistance element. This provides a lower self-heating level than thick film or gold body resistance, and provides better surge resistance than thick film, which makes the resistance ideal for automotive, industrial and medical applications.

 

     Barry Peters, Vice President of Product Management and Engineering at TT Electronics, said: "The development of our MFC family of resistor is driven by the explosive growth of products that need to control and monitor energy consumption, such as battery-powered portable and iot devices. "To meet the growing demand in this segment, TT has enhanced its portfolio of electroresistors with the debut of the MFC series, offering a wider range of sizes and resistance values than many of its top competitors."

 

     MFC resistors reduce the board area of the PCB and increase the tolerance for error, allowing for greater accuracy requirements elsewhere in the design and ultimately improving product reliability. The MFC series is available in six sizes from 0402 to 2512, offering a resistance range of 2 to 200 milliohm with accuracy up to ±0.5% and temperature drift up to ±50ppm/°C. The MFC series is AEC-Q200 certified for automotive DC-DC conversion, DC motor control, actuator control, power monitoring, portable device battery management systems and LED drivers.
