Teledyne DALSA Charge Transfer CMOS TDI camera big reveal - pixel shift technology

     Teledyne DALSA, a global leader in machine vision technology, is pleased to announce its latest charge-transfer CMOS TDI camera, the Linea HS 32k TDI camera. The camera uses a patent-pending pixel shift technology. "One of the biggest challenges in machine vision today is improving resolution while maintaining or even reducing system-level costs. Our new Linea HS 32k TDI camera provides an innovative solution to meet this conflicting requirement. Oems can easily integrate this new camera into existing systems and achieve higher performance without having to change any components."      The Linea HS 32k uses two pixel offset 16k/5μm TDI arrays. The camera captures two 16k/5μm images and then digitally reconstructs them in real time to achieve a high-resolution image of 32k/2.5μm. This upconversion significantly enhances the detectability of subpixel defects. One of the advantages of this patent-pending pixel offset technology is that existing light sources and 16k/5μm lenses can be used without the low sensitivity and low MTF caused by the small pixel size.

     These new products, combined with Teledyne's Xtium™2 CLHS series of high-performance image capture cards, represent a breakthrough in data throughput. The next generation CLHS fiber interface builds on field-proven technology to deliver reliable, high-throughput data transmission. Fiber optic cables reduce system costs, provide longer cable lengths (up to 300 m), and are not affected by electromagnetic radiation in industrial environments. Teledyne DALSA's Xtium2 series of high-performance image capture cards features the PCI Express Gen 3 x8 platform.
