
Teledyne LeCroy has introduced the latest addition to its range of high-definition oscilloscopes. The HDO6000B series provides a new solution to the unique problems facing today's analog, digital and mixed-signal designers. Industry trends such as the Internet of Things, embedded and mobile computing create unique constraints for design engineers. The system must provide more functionality and consume less power. In these demanding applications, voltage, current and power measurements must be made with increased speed and accuracy. The combination of smaller signal swings and lower margins makes it more challenging to extract and analyze these signals.
Teledyne LeCroy's HD4096 technology responds to these trends by combining a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter with a high sampling rate, a high signal-to-noise ratio amplifier, and a low noise system architecture. Oscilloscopes with HD4096 technology always provide 12-bit vertical resolution. Robert Mart, director of product marketing at Teledyne LeCroy, said no digitizer is perfect, but a 12-bit system is 16 times closer to perfect than an 8-bit system. Competitors use various design methods to improve resolution, which brings other performance trade-offs, so 12-bit performance cannot always be provided.
The HDO6000B series is Teledyne's latest implementation of the HD4096 technology. The HDO6000B series covers a bandwidth range from 350 MHz to 1 GHz, offering a sampling rate of 10 GS/s and long storage of up to 250 Megapoints. The compact package is significantly smaller than its competitors, but still features a 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 display for the clearest acquisition signal.
An optional internal function generator creates standard and arbitrary waveforms, ideal for stimulating the device under test. The comprehensive package is the industry's most complete analysis software toolbox, including optional spectrum analysis software that mimics traditional spectrum analyzer controls. The HDO6000B is the first design ever to integrate this functionality into an oscilloscope that consistently delivers 12-bit resolution.
MAUI with OneTouch user interface provides easy access to this extensive functionality. MAUI with OneTouch simplifies measurement setup and provides users with faster answers when debugging signal anomalies. The instrument can also be controlled remotely using MAUI Studio, Teledyne LeCroy's new remote control and offline analysis tool.
