Teledyne e2v introduces 8K image sensor for logistics applications

     Teledyne e2v introduces Snappy Wide, a new 8K wide-aspect ratio CMOS image sensor designed for increasingly common logistics applications on large conveyor belts. A single Snappy Wide sensor can cover a wide field of view, replacing multiple sensors for a more efficient and cost-effective solution.

     Snappy Wide has a small global shutter pixel of 2.5 μm, uses Teledyne e2v's latest generation phototube technology, and has a dynamic range of 67 dB in 10-bit and 12-bit ADC modes. The sensor has low readout noise, which is essential for barcode recognition applications, with MTF maintained in any environment and very low dark current, enabling it to guarantee clear image quality even in very low light conditions. With a resolution of up to 8K (8,192) x 4k (4,320) pixels, or 17/9 aspect ratio, Snappy Wide offers innovative sensor solutions for the logistics market and other industrial applications such as smart factories.

     Snappy Wide is now available in black and white and color versions with 35 megapixels (8,192 x 4,320), 28 megapixels (8,182 x 3,500) and 16 megapixels (8,192 x 2,000). This design allows the sensor to be flexible to ensure horizontal and vertical resolution. Unlike square-format CMOS image sensors, Snappy Wide does not waste pixels and reduces the overall system cost. In addition, the new sensor can effectively function as a high-throughput 1D linear array scanner (18,700 fps dual-line scanning).
