TeraBox 1400B server that provides double density computing and networking resources

     BittWare, a Molex company, introduced the TeraBox 1400B server, which supports four dual-width FPGA boards on a 1U high rack-mount housing. The server is equipped with BittWare's XUP-VV8 circuit board, which offers twice the FPGA density and network density of a standard eight-board 4U server. BittWare's 1400B server is targeted at users who need the highest density of high-end computing, networking and signal processing acceleration in terms of FPGA resources and network ports.

     BittWare designed the TeraBox 1400B server with high-end FPGA users in mind. Up to four dual-width FPGas are fixed side-by-side at the front of the case, with its network ports exposed. For maximum FPGA network port density, the server can be fitted with four BittWare's new XUP-VV8 boards, each with four Molex QSFP-DD enclosures. This four-board configuration can provide a total of sixteen QSFP-DD enclosures for the 1U front panel of the server, enabling up to 32 100 GbE links using the QSFP-DD to QSFP-28 branch cable. Users can also choose QSFP-DD to SFP+ branch circuits, enabling up to 128 10/25 GbE links.

     Because the board is set up at the front, BittWare was able to design dedicated fans that direct airflow from the front of the server to the rear, giving the FPGA board access to cold air before the CPU and storage devices. By using four dual-width PCIe x16 slots, users can choose from a wide range of BittWare boards powered by Xilinx's UltraScale+ or Intel's Stratix 10 FPgas. The server's mother board contains two Intel Xeon upgradable cpus, each dedicated to just two FPGA boards, ideal for heterogeneous applications that need to combine powerful CPU resources with FPGA resources. In addition, 24 DIMMs (12 per CPU) can provide up to 3TB of DDR4 host memory, and up to 2TB of total DDR4 memory (up to 4 DIMMs per board) on the FPGA board. For specific FPGA boards, QDR or packaged HBM2 memory schemes are also available.
