The Texas Instruments DRV3256-Q1 Automotive Gate Driver Unit (GDU) is a highly integrated three-phase gate driver for 48V automotive motor drive applications. The device is specifically designed to provide A gate drive current of 2A peak pull current and 2.5A peak fill current, as well as a 90V MOSFET transient overvoltage support to support high-power motor drive applications. Efficient bootstrap architecture minimizes power loss and gate driver spontaneous heat. The charge pump allows the gate driver to support 100% PWM duty cycle control.
The Texas Instruments DRV3256-Q1 features a variety of monitoring, diagnostic, and protection features that support robust motor drive system designs. The highly configurable Active Short Circuit (ASC) feature enables the integration of selected external MOSFETs for rapid response to system failures. This feature requires no external components. Optionally, three or one low-side shunt amplifiers are provided to support resistor-based low-side current detection.
