     Texas Instruments IWR1443 integrated monolithic millimeter wave sensor is based on frequency-modelled continuous wave (FMCW) radar technology and is designed to operate in the 76 GHz to 81 GHz frequency band with a maximum continuous chirp of 4 GHz. It uses TI's low-power 45 nm RF complementary metal oxide semiconductor (RFCMOS) process to achieve an unprecedented level of integration with an extremely small form factor. The IWR1443 is the ideal solution for low-power, self-monitoring, ultra-accurate radar systems for industrial applications such as building automation, factory automation, unmanned aerial vehicles, material handling, traffic monitoring and surveillance.

 

     The IWR1443 device is a standalone, single-chip solution that simplifies the implementation of mmWave sensors in the 76 GHz to 81 GHz bands. It includes a monolithic implementation of a 3TX, 4RX system, built-in phase-locked loop (PLL) and analog-to-digital converter (adc). The device includes fully configurable hardware accelerators that support complex fast Fourier transform (FFT) and constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection.

 

     IWR1443 includes two processor subsystems based on Arm r4f, including one for master control and other algorithms. The second processor subsystem is responsible for front-end configuration, control, and calibration. Through a simple programming model change, multiple sensor implementations are realized and the possibility of dynamic reconfiguration is provided for the implementation of multi-mode sensors. The appliance is provided as a complete platform solution, including reference hardware design, software drivers, sample configurations, application interface guidelines, training, and user documentation.
