Texas Instruments OPT3005 Ambient Light Sensor (ALS)

Texas Instruments OPT3005 Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) is a single-chip illuminometer that measures the intensity of visible light in the human eye. OPT3005 has strong infrared suppression and accurate spectral response characteristics, regardless of the source, or stray light active illumination of 850nm or 940nm, can accurately measure the intensity of the visible light of the human eye.

Extreme infrared suppression helps maintain high accuracy when industrial designs call for sensors under dark glass, especially stray light for 850nm or 940nm NIR active lighting. These systems usually have a lot of NIR stray light reflected from the protective glass, which can affect the light sensor measurement. The OPT3005's precision optical filtering is proven to accommodate this NIR stray light reflection and truly measure the ambient light perceived by the human eye.

Texas Instruments OPT3005 is a system designed to create light experiences for humans. It is the preferred alternative to photoresistors, photodiodes, or other ambient light sensors with smaller eye matching and infrared suppression capabilities. With the built-in full range setting function, measurements can be made in the range of 20mlux to 166klux without manually selecting the full range. This feature allows optical measurements in a 23-bit effective dynamic range.
