Texas Instruments SN6507 Low emission push-pull transformer driver

     The Texas Instruments SN6507 Low Emission 36V push-pull transformer driver is a high voltage, high frequency push-pull transformer driver that provides isolated power in small solution sizes. Packaged in a 10-pin hsvsop DGQ package, its temperature range is -55°C to 125°C.

     The SN6507 realizes the benefits of the push-pull topology, including simplicity, low electromagnetic interference, and flux cancellation to prevent transformer saturation. Further space savings are achieved through duty cycle control, which reduces the number of components over a wide input range, and by selecting high switching frequencies, reduces the size of the transformer.

     The TI SN6507 push-pull transformer drive integrates A controller and two 0.5A NMOS power switches that are out of phase. The driver has a programmable input operating range with precise undervoltage locking. Protection features on the device include overcurrent protection (OCP), adjustable undervoltage lock (UVLO), overvoltage lock (OVLO), thermal shutdown (TSD), and stop-and-stop circuits.

     Programmable soft start (SS) also minimizes inrush current and facilitates power sequencing for critical power-on requirements. The spread spectrum clock (SSC) and pin configurable spin rate control (SRC) further reduce radiation and emissions required for ultra-low EMI.
