Texas Instruments TCAL6416 I²C-bus/SMBus I/O expander

     The Texas Instruments TCAL6416 I(2)C-bus/SMBus I/O Expander provides universal parallel input/output (I/O) expander solutions for two-line two-way I(2)C bus (or SMBus) protocols. The power supply voltage of the I(2)C bus side (VCCI) of the TCAL6416 is 1.08V to 3.6V, and the power supply voltage of the p port side (VCCP) is 1.08V to 3.6V.

     TI TCAL6416 I(2)C bus /SMBus I/O expander offers 100 KHZ (Standard mode), 400kHz(Fast mode) and 1MHz(Fast Mode +)I(2)C clock frequencies. This device provides a simple solution when extra I/ o is required for switches, sensors, buttons, leds, fans, etc.

     The TCAL6416 features an Agile I/O port, which includes additional features designed to improve speed, power consumption, and I/O performance in terms of EMI. Other features of the device include programmable output drive strength, programmable pull-up resistance, latched input, masked interrupt, interrupt status register, and programmable open-and-drop or push-pull output.
