Texas Instruments THVD1424 RS-485 transceiver

     The Texas Instruments THVD1424 RS-485 transceiver has on-chip 120Ω terminal resistance, swing rate control, and interchangeability between half-duplex and full-duplex modes. All characteristics are controlled by pins, so the device can be used at any node position (terminal node or intermediate node), 2-wire (half duplex) or 4-wire (full duplex), slow or fast in any network. The terminal device designer can design a general purpose printed circuit board (PCB) and configure it through software to meet various application requirements, saving design and certification time.

     Bus pins withstand high-level IEC contact discharge ESD events without the need for other system-level protection elements. TI THVD1424 RS-485 transceiver bus operating power supply is 3V to 5.5V, while logical power supply voltage range is 1.65V to 5.5V. Because the bus pins have a wide common-mode voltage range and low input leakage, the device is suitable for multipoint applications on long cables. The THVD1424 features a space-saving, heat-efficient 16-pin VQFN package with ambient temperatures ranging from -- 40°C to 125°C.
