Texas Instruments TPS1641x Power and current limiting electronic fuse

Texas Instruments TPS1641x Power and Current Limiting Electronic fuses provide precise power or current limiting features. The device provides strong protection with integrated overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, in-out short-circuit detection, and overheating protection. The TPS16410 and TPS16411 devices provide ±5% power limits (15W hours) for loads and configurable blanking times for transient overload or overcurrent events.

The TPS16410 and TPS16411 are available for low power circuits (LPCS) for 15W power limits, conforming to IEC60335 and UL60730 standards. The TPS1641x device provides protection against short circuit faults of adjacent pins and ground pins.

Applications such as backplane power protection in PLC and DCS modules are configured with current limits via resistors on ILIM pins. The TPS16412 and TPS16413 devices provide a ±6% current limit (1A hour) for the load. These devices also provide output conversion rate control via the dVdT pins to charge a large capacitance load when powered on.

Texas Instruments TPS1641x features IN to OUT short circuit detection. The device indicates an IN to OUT short circuit on the FLT pin. FLT pins can be supplied to the MCU for digital input or used to drive an external PFET. The device has an operating junction temperature range of -40 °C to +125°C.
