Texas Instruments TPS55289 8A step-boost converter

     The TPS55289 has input voltage capability up to 30v. Through the I2C interface, the output voltage of the TPS55289 is programmable, from 0.8V to 22V, with a step of 10 mv. When operating in boost mode, the device can provide 60w from 12v input voltage. It is capable of delivering 45 W from 9 v input voltage. TPS55289 adopts average current mode control scheme. Switching frequencies are programmable from an external resistor, ranging from 200 kHz to 2.2 MHz, and can be synchronized with an external clock.

     The TPS55289 also offers optional spread spectrum to minimize peak EMI. The TPS55289 provides output overvoltage protection, average inductance current limitation, period peak current limitation, and output short circuit protection. The TPS55289 also ensures safe operation under continuous overload conditions, with optional output current limits and burp mode protection. The TPS55289 can use small inductors and capacitors with high switching frequencies. It comes in a 3.0mm × 5.0mm QFN package.
