Texas Instruments (TI) held a C2000 MCU product launch event in Shenzhen, China, and officially launched two revolutionary microcontroller products - TMS320F28P55x series and F29H85x series. These two new products not only mark another major leap for the C2000 series in the field of real-time control, but also show Texas Instruments' deep accumulation and innovation strength in Edge AI technology.
TMS320F28P55x Series: Integrated NPU, fault detection accuracy up to 99%
The TMS320F28P55x series is the industry's first real-time MCU to integrate a neural processing unit (NPU), an innovative design that significantly increases the level of system intelligence. NPU can efficiently run convolutional neural network (CNN) models and perform well in applications such as fault detection, with fault detection accuracy up to 99%, far exceeding the traditional method of around 85%. This series of MCUS is also equipped with up to 1.1MB Flash memory, 24 high-precision PWM channels and 39 ADC channels, providing powerful hardware support for real-time control systems.
In practical applications, the TMS320F28P55x series can significantly reduce system size, reduce costs and improve overall efficiency. Taking arc fault detection in solar inverter system as an example, the solution using this series MCU can complete a single arc judgment within 5 milliseconds, and automatically cut off the circuit within 0.2 seconds after detecting the arc, achieving zero false positive rate, effectively improving the safety and reliability of the system.
F29H85x series: 64-bit C29 core, more than double the performance
The F29H85x series is equipped with Texas Instruments' new 64-bit C29 core, and adopts the ultra-long instruction set architecture (VLIW), which can execute up to 8 instructions at the same time in a single instruction cycle, and the real-time control performance is more than double that of the previous generation. This family of MCUS has achieved significant improvements in signal chain performance, FFT performance, interrupt response speed, and universal code performance, especially in applications such as motor control and power conversion.
The F29H85x series also meets the highest standards of automotive safety integrity level ASIL-D and industrial safety integrity Level SIL-3, and has a built-in hardware safety module (HSM) and Functional Safety and Information Security Unit (SSU) to provide a full range of system security. In addition, the family of MCUS supports the AUTOSAR standard, enabling customers in the automotive and industrial sectors to rapidly develop and deploy complex safety-critical applications.
Wide range of application scenarios and strong ecosystem support
With their excellent performance and rich functional features, these two new products will play an important role in many fields. For example, in the field of automotive electronics, the F29H85x series can be used in the integrated architecture of on-board chargers (OBC), DC/DC converters (DCDC) and host MCUS to achieve efficient single-chip control; In the field of industrial control, the TMS320F28P55x series can significantly improve the fault detection capability and overall efficiency of systems such as motor drive and power conversion.
