Texas Instruments offers its BQ500511 low-cost, 5 V, wireless power transmitter controller for the WPC v1.2A11 transmitter

     The Texas Instruments BQ500511 is a wireless power transmitter controller in a thermally-enhanced 6 mm x 6 mm, 40-pin VQFN package. When combined with the BQ50002 analog front-end device, all features needed to create a QI-compatible or proprietary 5v transmitter are integrated. BQ500511 and BQ50002 together provide a compact wireless charger solution.

     The BQ500511 pings the surrounding environment for the receiving device to be powered, securely engages the device, receives packet communication from the device being powered, and manages power transmission according to the WPC v1.2 specification.To maximize the flexibility of wireless power control applications, the BQ500511 uses dynamic power Restriction (DPL). DPL enhances the user experience by seamlessly optimizing power usage for limited input power sources.

     The system supports external object detection (FOD) to prevent power loss due to misalignment of metal objects in wireless power transmission by continuously monitoring the efficiency of established power transmission. If anything abnormal occurs during power transfer, the bq500511 handles the situation and provides an indication output. Comprehensive status and failure monitoring capabilities make possible a low-cost yet robust qi certified wireless power system design.
