Texas Instruments step-down power module

     The Texas Instruments TLVM13640 4A Stepdown Power module is a highly integrated 36V, 4A DC/DC solution that combines power MosFEts, shielded inductors and passives in the enhanced HotRod QFN package. The module has V(IN) and V(OUT) pins located at the corners of the package to optimize input and output capacitance placement. Four larger heat pads below the module make the layout simple and easy to operate in manufacturing.

     With an output voltage range from 1V to 6V, the Texas Instruments TLVM13640 is designed to quickly and easily achieve low EMI designs within a small PCB footprint. The overall solution requires only four external components and eliminates the choice of magnetic and compensating parts in the design process.

     Although the TLVM13640 module is designed to be small and simple in space-constrained applications, it offers a number of robust performance features. These features include adjustable input voltage UVLO for hysteretic accuracy enablement, resistance programmable switching of nodes for turn rate to improve EMI, integrated V(CC), bootstrap, and input capacitance for improved reliability and higher density. These devices also feature constant switching frequencies over the full load current range, negative output voltage capability, and a PGOOD indicator for sequence, failure protection, and output voltage monitoring.
