
To advance millimeter wave (mmWave) sensor technology in industrial applications around the world, Texas Instruments announced the launch of a family of ultra-high-resolution single-chip complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) 60-GHz sensors for industrial systems. The IWR6x millimeter wave sensor supports industrial automation applications with an on-chip processing unit that provides real-time decision making and signal processing. The latest 60-GHz millimeter wave sensor will be the first packaged product to include an "AOP antenna package," overcoming traditional challenges associated with radio frequency (RF) design while reducing size to 75 percent and overall cost.
With 60-GHz millimeter wave sensors, engineers around the world can integrate millimeter wave technology into a wide range of robotics, factory automation and building automation designs, while leveraging the ISM band for widespread deployment. Designed for industrial applications, the high-resolution IWR6x sensor delivers ultra-wideband width up to 4 GHz and is able to sense objects and motion with 16 times greater accuracy than 24-GHz narrowband solutions.
