The 8.3-megapixel image sensor of ON brings the best dynamic range of its kind under challenging lighting conditions

     Onsemi, a leader in smart power and smart sensing technology, announced the launch of its new 1/1.7-inch 8.3-megapixel CMOS digital image sensor with a roll-shutter shutter and embedded high Dynamic range (eHDR) technology.

     The AR0821CS delivers exceptional image quality in challenging lighting conditions to meet the diverse needs of commercial, consumer and industrial applications. These applications include scanners/card readers, machine vision cameras, high-end drones, dashboard cameras and smart building monitoring/security systems.

     With a range of versatile features, the AR0821CS delivers 8.3 megapixel, 60 frames per second (fps) 4K video with extremely low power consumption. The advanced sensor includes Anson's unique 2.1 micron (µm) DR-Pix™ Backlight (BSI) pixel design, enabling high quantum efficiency, and on-chip HDR (eHDR) technology, providing best-in-class dynamic range of over 140 dB. High quality image data minimizes processing requirements, resulting in faster, more cost-effective camera systems.

     More and more applications now rely on image data to make informed decisions. The AR0821CS 'excellent pixel design meets these needs, providing detailed images even in bright daylight or low light. The AR0821CS optimizes the amount of data transmitted in a multi-sub-sampling mode to provide images at a faster rate depending on the demand of the intended application.

     The AR0821CS can be used with the AP1302 coprocessor, Image Signal processor (ISP) and System Single chip (SoC) from our technology partners. In addition, the industry renowned DevSuite software provides an integrated platform to develop camera systems based on AR0821CS. In DevSuite, Anson & Mather provides customized firmware that allows system developers to complete their camera design effortlessly and get their product to market quickly.

     The AR0821CS was designed with Anson's development resources into Basler's dart family of area-scanning camera modules. The dart camera family enables a wide range of image processing applications in small shapes and offers the latest machine vision technology.
