The B72314S2 * of EPCOS/TDK is an extremely compact and robust varistor with a disc diameter of 14 mm

     EPCOS B72,314S2 * series (AdvanceD S14 compact) of EPCOS/TDK's wafer varistors with pins cover a wide operating voltage range from 175 VRMS to 625 VRMS. The maximum surge current capacity of single pulse current (8/20 µ s) can reach 6000 A. According to the Class 5 standard of the fourth edition of UL 1449, they can withstand multiple surge currents of 3000 A at 8/20 µ s.

     In particular, it is worth noting that compared with the equivalent S14 Advanced D model with the same performance, it is smaller in size. The disc diameter varies from 13 mm to 14 mm, which is about 3 mm less than the Advanced D S14 series. The coating of the wafer consists of flame retardant synthetic resin conforming to UL 94 V-0. SIOV varistors have passed UL, CSA, VDE and IEC certification.

     Due to its compact size design and excellent electrical characteristics, the Advanced S14 compact model can provide space saving design for home appliances, smart meters, inverters and other target applications.
