Pepperl+Fuchs fills a gap in its portfolio with the IUT-F191-IO-V1 and provides customers with easy access to UHF RFID. In recent years, IO-Link has become a complete interface in the market, and its use is increasingly widespread. One reason for its popularity is the standardized interface, which allows customers to combine several sensors in a unified manner with little effort. Other advantages include quick installation and direct replacement on site.
IO-Link's existing portfolio of high-frequency RFID products (13.56MHz) is now being expanded to include UHF readers. The IUT-F191-IO-V1 fills a gap between the HF and RFID and UHF systems the company already offers. A reader is used when the detection range of the HF system is no longer sufficient, or when the customer prefers the UHF solution for other reasons, such as when the UHF solution is already in use and should be used continuously. In many applications, a read/write distance of about 1 meter is perfectly sufficient.
In addition, the interface can be easily and economically integrated into any existing IO-Link network for fast debugging and interchangeability. Simple mode - already familiar with high-frequency RFID read and write devices with IO-Link - reduces programming work for users and provides anytime access to UHF RFID applications. In expert mode, advanced Settings options are also available.
Applications include internal logistics, for example, materials supplied to machines must be identified prior to further processing to avoid errors and interruptions in production, and products must have continuous traceability throughout the manufacturing process. Potential applications include conveyor lines or automated storage systems, where IO-Link is often used to connect further sensor technologies and components.
