
Onsemi announced that it will be the primary supplier of image sensors for Subaru's new generation of EyeSight stereo camera forward-sensing systems for future models. On's advanced Hyperlux AR0823AT image sensor will act as the "eyes" of the system, capturing the critical visual data needed for Subaru's stereo camera AI algorithms to enable the car to make more accurate driving decisions and improve the overall safety of the vehicle.
"Capturing accurate and reliable visual data is key to the success of AI driver assistance systems and significantly improves overall vehicle safety," said Hassane El-Khoury, President and CEO of On. "On's Hyperlux image sensors combine high-performance imaging with compliance with key safety standards to ensure Subaru's next-generation systems can interpret the driving environment and make accurate driving decisions."
The Hyperlux AR0823AT features a full-pixel design that captures sharp images regardless of lighting conditions, with special controls to ensure the EyeSight stereo camera's two sensors capture images in sync. This is essential for stereo vision systems that mimic human vision, allowing them to discern depth and the relative size and distance of objects in the vehicle's path. In addition, the sensor's high dynamic range (HDR) captures detail in both bright and shaded areas of the scene to ensure that the AI system can make accurate decisions.

The Hyperlux AR0823AT also has functional safety features that comply with the Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) Level C standard to ensure the safety and reliability of driver assistance systems. These features enable active monitoring of the sensor's function and can take steps such as resetting the camera or alerting the driver if a fault is detected that could affect the system's accuracy.
