Rohde & Schwarz has extended the analytical bandwidth of the high-end signal and spectrum analyzer R&S FSW to 2GHz with the introduction of a new hardware option, the R&S FSW-B2000. The test solution enables developers to demodulate and analyze ultra-wideband signals in detail. No other device on the market today offers such a large analysis bandwidth and a test frequency range of up to 67GHz at the same time. In addition, R&S FSW has pioneered many test applications. For example, users can test the EVM of communication signals, or test the linear frequency modulation of a linear frequency modulation radar system.
Developers need large bandwidth to analyze broadband signals, such as IEEE 802.11ad signals, the new WLAN standard, 5G signals for next-generation mobile communications, and radar linear frequency modulation signals. The R&S FSW is the first signal and spectrum analyzer to offer a user-friendly commercial solution for 2GHz analysis bandwidth.
To analyze such a wide-band signal, the R&S FSW first downconverts the signal to IF, and then samples the IF signal using the R&S RTO oscilloscope. The R&S FSW equalizes digital signals and adjusts sampling rates. The entire signal path, including the oscilloscope, has been calibrated. The user can easily control the entire test system from the analyzer side, and the test results will be displayed on the analyzer. The R&S FSW provides detailed signal analysis in test modes such as vector signal analysis, pulse and transient analysis. No other test solution on the market currently supports both test frequencies up to 67GHz and such wide spectrum testing and signal analysis.
The performance metrics of the R&S FSW make it ideal for developing devices that comply with the latest WLAN standard, IEEE 802.11ad. IEEE 802.11ad supports high data rate transmission over short distances, with symbol rates up to 1.76GSampls/s in single carrier mode, which requires an analytical bandwidth of 2GHz to demodulate it.
The R&S FSW-B2000 option is suitable for the high-end signal and spectrum analyzer R&S FSW26/43/50/67 operating frequencies up to 26.5/43.5/50/67GHz. The R&S FSW-B2000 option is currently available from Rohde & Schwarz.
