The first portable ground fault circuit breaker improves electrical safety

Molex has launched the Super-Safeway Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) industrial-duty product. The new GFCI instrument is the first portable 20A device to gain the IP69K rating. This latest addition to the company's Woodhead line of permanent-mount and portable GFCI solutions is ideal for the food-processing industry, and other applications where sanitising equipment continually produces excessive moisture and humidity conditions.

Molex has introduced the Super safeway Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) for industrial use. As part of the company's ongoing commitment to industrial product innovation, the cable drop on the device provides a primary wire that can be included in an overhead configuration for more suitable and safer installation. In addition, the device can be connected with cables using Molex Watertite wiring devices and has IP67, IP69K, NEMA Type 4X and 6P ratings.

The new GFCI instrument is the first portable 20A device to receive an IP69K rating. It is the latest addition to the company's Woodhead family of permanently installed and portable GFCI solutions, ideal for the food processing industry, as well as other applications where disinfection equipment consistently produces excessive moisture and humidity conditions.

"Molex's industrial customers operate highly complex processing equipment in some of the harshest and wettest environments, so addressing their safety concerns is a key business priority," said Tony Quebbemann, Product Marketing Manager at Molex. "We have developed portable, IP69K-rated, 20A GFCI products to provide our customers with the highest level of protection from the dangers of electrical failure or electric shock." The company's new dual-insulation GFCI meets industry standards while providing additional protective measures to keep workers safe. The product's open neutral sensing relay prevents power flow under threatening conditions, as required by OSHA.

In addition, the product complies with ul and csa certified regulations. ip69k Grade products also offer superior sealing performance, impact resistant housing, chemical/UV resistant housing and vulcanized rubber for durable, reliable operation. Annoying trips are minimized through electronically enhanced filters, while different product options are developed, including automatic and manual reset as well as a variety of outlet box configurations to suit a variety of workplaces.
