The new IGBT and MOSFET drivers enable compact design, fast switching and high voltage

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of two new IGBT and MOSFET drivers -VOFD341A and VOFD343A - in the compact, high-isolation extended SO-6 package. The Vishay VOFD341A and VOFD343A have peak output currents up to 3A and 4 A respectively, operating temperatures up to +125 C and propagation delays down to 200 ns.

     The optocoupler consists of an AlGaAs LED, which is optically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power output stage for solar inverters and microinverters, AC and brushless DC industrial motor control inverters, and inverter stages for AC/DC conversion in the UPS. The device is ideal for direct drive of IGBTs rated up to 1200 V / 100 A.

     The VOFD341A and VOFD343A support high operating temperatures, which provide a higher temperature safety margin for a more compact design, while the device's peak output current enables faster switching without additional driver stages. The low propagation delay of the device minimizes switching losses while facilitating more precise PWM regulation.

     The highly isolated package of the optocoupler supports high operating voltages up to 1140 V, so it can be used in the high voltage inverter stage while still maintaining sufficient voltage safety margin. These devices are RoHS compliant and support immunity up to 50 kV/µs, preventing drop functions in fast switching power stages.
