The new IHDM edge-wound inductors from Vishay offer excellent inductance and saturation stability

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the introduction of A new IHDM edge-wound through hole inductor, the IHDM-1008BC-30, rated up to 150 A for industrial and defense applications. The Vishay Custom Magnetics IHDM-1008BC-30 adopts iron-powder core technology. It has excellent inductance and saturation stability, low power consumption and excellent heat dissipation in the harsh operating temperature range from -40℃ to +180℃.

     The device, released today, has a direct current resistance (DCR) as low as 0.25m  to minimize losses and improve rated current performance, helping to improve efficiency. Compared to ferrite based solutions, the IHDM-1008BC-30 increases its rated and saturated current by 30% at +125℃. After the inductance reaches the saturation current, there will be no sharp drop in the inductance value, and the saturation current is not affected by temperature.

     Operating at up to 350 V, the inductor is suitable for DC/DC converters in high-current, high-temperature applications, inverters, motor and switching noise suppression, high-power switching power supplies, including industrial solar systems, electric vehicle charging stations, and defense systems.

     The IHDM-1008BC-30 standard has striated tin-plated pins for through-hole installation. The device uses ER2519 iron powder core and has an external dimension of 25 mm x 20 mm x 23 mm. Vishay can customize inductors with different performance and installation modes on request. Options include bare copper, surface mount and press fit. In order to reduce the risk of whisker growth, the inductor adopts hot dip tin plating process. Devices comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards and are halogen-free.
