Infineon Technologies AG is expanding its next-generation OptiMOS™ 7 MOSFETs portfolio for automotive applications, adding devices in robust, lead-free packages to the 40 V portfolio and introducing OptiMOS™ 7 MOSFEts in 80 V and 100 V models. These MOSFETs are optimized for standard and future 48 V automotive applications, including electric power steering, braking systems, power switches in new regional architectures, battery management, electronic fuse boxes, and DC/DC and BLDC drivers in a variety of 12 V and 48 V electrical system applications. These products are also suitable for light electric vehicles (LEVs), electric two-wheelers, electric scooters, electric motorcycles, and other transportation applications such as commercial vehicles and agricultural vehicles (CAVs).

The new OptiMOS™ 7 technology combines 300 mm thin wafer technology and innovative packaging technology to provide significant performance benefits in a wide range of available voltage levels, making it suitable for a wide range of rugged automotive grade power device packages. It includes single SSO8 (5x6), dual SSO8 (5x6), mTOLG (8x8) and sTOLL (7x8). The series offers higher power density and energy efficiency with lower on-resistance (e.g., 1.3mΩ maximum on-resistance in a single SSO8 (5x6) 80V package) and a smaller form factor. The devices also reduce switching losses, improve the robustness of the Safe Working area (SOA), and have high avalanche current tolerance, enabling efficient system design for future automotive applications.
