The new STM32L0 Value series MCUS that make the ultra-low power MCU product family even more accessible

     STMicroelectronics' new STM32L0x0 Value Series Microcontroller (MCU) adds an affordable entry level product to the STM32L0* series. Ultra-low power technology and efficient 32-bit performance with an Arm®Cortex®-M0 + core for designers struggling with cost, size or power constraints.

     The STM32L0x0 integrates up to 128KB of flash memory, 20KB of SRAM, and 512B of hardware-embedded EEPROM on chip, saving customers the footprint of external components, reducing board space, and reducing bill of material costs. In addition to cost-sensitive and space-constrained consumer products such as fitness trackers, computer or gaming accessories, remote controls, the new STM32L0x0 Value series MCUS are also ideal for personal medical devices, industrial sensors, and iot devices, such as building controls, weather stations, smart locks, smoke detectors, or fireworks alarms.

     STMicroelectronics' low-leakage current energy saving technology and various product features such as low-power UART, low-power timers, 41µA 10ksample/s ADCs, and power-saving mode wake-up times of only 5µs make ambitious energy management goals within reach. With these chips, designers can achieve the goal of extending battery life, for example, extending battery life without sacrificing product functionality, improving wireless mobile battery life, or leveraging the ultra-energy-efficient 670nA shutdown mode power consumption (RTC works, retains RAM data) to allow devices such as smart meters or iot sensors to last up to 10 years.

     The affordable price point of the new value family of microcontrollers is compatible with the development ecosystem supporting low-cost design, the Keil MDK-ARM professional IDE development environment supports STM32L0x0 products for free, and the STM32CubeMX[1] configuration code generator provides easy-to-use design analysis, including a power calculator. Compatible with the new family, the Nucleo-64 development board (NUCLEO-L010RB) with a hardware Abstraction layer (HAL) library is now available, making it easy for designers to quickly start projects.

     The STM32L0x0 Value family has six new products that offer customers a variety of storage capacity options, including 16KB, 64KB or 128KB flash memory, 128B, 256B or 512B EEPROM, and a variety of packaging options. Today, the STM32 product family consists of more than 800 products, offering a variety of kernel performance and integration features. The STM32L0x0 Value Series pins are compatible with the full STM32 family of products, giving designers the flexibility to develop designs as needs change, make subsequent extensions to the system's capabilities, and continue to use existing code, documentation, and tools.
